Emergent is an interactive audio/visual generative work that explores the emergence of spontaneous patterns from the latent space between intelligibility and unpredictability of chaotic systems.
The project utilizes algorithms that simulate tectonic movements and water flows to create ever-changing digital landscapes that evolve and unravel in autonomous ways. Emergent blurs the line between order and disorder, generating landscapes that are in constant dynamic interplay between the two. The generative seed is extracted from variations in the magnetic field of the room, conditioned by visitors' bodies and technological devices, to generate the initial conditions for the simulation. The project has evolved from its initial iteration, adding a live component and generative music. Emergent is a fascinating example of how technology can be used to create immersive and thought-provoking works of art.
